FAQ: Xamarin University Account Authentication

On February 5, 2018, Xamarin University began to transition away from Xamarin's account-based authentication and move over to Microsoft's account-based authentication. All login credentials for Xamarin University must be converted by Saturday, March 31, 2018.

Q: What does this mean for me (existing Xamarin University student)?
A: Xamarin accounts should be completely decoupled from Xamarin University, and all users must log in with Microsoft accounts. In addition, the prior Xamarin Cloud Services Agreement no longer apply and instead, Microsoft's Online Service Terms govern your use of Xamarin University.

Q: Do I have to convert if I never paid for a subscription?
A: Yes, all Xamarin University users must convert their accounts with Microsoft authentication.

Q: When do I have to convert my account by?
A: You should have converted your Xamarin University account by Saturday, March 31, 2018.

Q: What if I didn't convert my account by the deadline?
A: If you did not convert your Xamarin University account by the deadline, please go to https://university.xamarin.com/account/linkaccountform after you log in using your Microsoft login account credentials. Then follow instructions in the form to link your Xamarin University account with your Microsoft login credentials.

Note: you must have access to the inbox tied to the email address associated with your previous Xamarin login credentials for verification purposes.

Q: Will I lose any Xamarin University data if I convert my login account?
A: No, you will not lose any Xamarin University data if you convert your login account; your Xamarin University history and data should remain as is.

Q: My profile photo disappeared after I converted my account. How do I get it back?
A: You'll need to go to https://en.gravatar.com/ and link the email address tied to your Microsoft account.

Q: How do I change the email address associated with my Microsoft account?
A: Please follow instructions for changing the email for your Microsoft account.

Q: After converting, can I switch the Microsoft account associated with my Xamarin University account?
A: It depends on the circumstance. Please contact training@xamarin.com for support.

Q: Where can a user go to revoke these permissions at a later time?
A: You can manage your app and service permissions for Microsoft accounts at https://account.live.com/consent/Manage. Know that if you revoke permissions from Xamarin University, you will not have access to Xamarin University.

Q: Can I use my work email associated with Azure Active Directory (AAD) to connect with Xamarin University?
A: Yes, however you may need the admin for your organization to grant Xamarin University permissions to connect. If you run into issues, please contact training@xamarin.com for more information.
